The Real Story

IMG_1575

I have been asked by many people the same question repeatedly.  “Aren’t you afraid?” My simple answer is no, the more complicated answer is the fact that you can find trouble if you look for it anywhere in the world.  Stay out of bad neighborhoods and respect everyone.  I believe is showing the same respect to a gardener or housekeeper as I would a CEO.  Looking people in the eye and thanking them rather than looking at them and judging them is the key to a serene life anywhere.

There is no doubt that there are some troubles in Mexico, but there are a ton of troubles in the United States and, for that matter, all over the world.  I lived on a rural southern road and was ripped off 15 times in 5 years.

While I live in a gated complex with ten apartments, I am not about to lock myself up inside of the place.  I will get out and walk, stop by vendors, shop keepers, and meet people constantly.

Later I will write about the real cost of living in Mexico or at least the area where I live.

  1. Words to live by. Treat everyone as you would want to be treated. Everyone deserves a chance and a smile. Who knows, you might just make someone’s day and wouldn’t that be a great thing.
